A lot of sites have been cropping up lately for seized car auctions that talk about getting a late model SUV or sports car for $100. The only way you are going to get one of the cars they picture on their sites for $100 is if the part of the car you can't see is totally destroyed.
That's not to say there aren't bargain opportunities at government auctions and police auctions because there are. It's not unusual for there to be cheap cars at government auctions and police auctions, ranging from $500 and up. Just don't expect a Ferrarri for that price.
Many seized car auctions are held at the city level, municipal police auctions, and these can represent some of the best opportunities for bargains since they tend to be less well-attended than some of the larger US Treasury auctions.

To recap our warning, be wary of sites that oversell the discounts you can get at government auctions. The bigger the claim, the less true it tends to be. You can get discounts on cars at government auctions and police auctions, but there are risks, such as mechanical issues and a lack of a warranty that need to be considered and factored into your bidding.
